Collezione di mobili e oggetti in alluminio
Se qualcuno mi chiedesse: “Dove ti piacerebbe vivere, e in quale epoca?” Risponderei, senza esitazione, a Parigi negli anni Venti.
La collezione di mobili e oggetti FESTA MOBILE – PARIGI ANNI VENTI che ho disegnato per Altreforme è dedicata alla mia amata Parigi, città dove ho vissuto intensamente per quattro anni e, dove ho scovato dai bouquinistes del lungosenna Paris est une fête, l’edizione francese di Festa Mobile di Ernest Hemingway, testimonianza degli anni vissuti dallo scrittore a Parigi, ma soprattutto di una vita artistica e culturale unica.
Così, come il protagonista del film di Woody Allen Midnight in Paris, ho immaginato di essere catapultata nella Ville lumière degli anni folli, cuore della sperimentazione culturale e della avanguardia per gli artisti di tutto il mondo. Ho camminato lungo i Boulevard di Saint Germain e Montparnasse; mi sono seduta nei café, nei bistrot, nelle brasserie e ovunque ho lasciato una traccia: barattoli e vasi di Pandora disseminati per trovare la via del ritorno. Le mie briciole di Pollicino le ho quindi chiamate: La Coupole, Le Dôme, Lipp, La Rotonde, Les Deux-Magots, La Closerie des Lilas, Harry’s Bar, Le Sélect, Lutétia, Café de la Mairie, Café de Flore, Le Falstaff, Café des Amateurs, Dingo bar e Polidor. Ho poi visitato gli atelier; ho bazzicato teatri, librerie e salotti parigini. Nel mio divagare ho immaginato di incontrare e conoscere alcuni dei protagonisti di quegli anni, di poter passare del tempo con loro e di offrire a ciascuno un dono.
A Ernest Hemingway ho regalato un mobile bar per rendere piacevoli le sue bevute solitarie; a Francis Scott Fitzgerald una seduta per riposarsi dopo le notti brave e alla moglie Zelda Scott Fitzgerald un tavolino in cerca di equilibrio. A Sylvia Beach una libreria cruciverba per facilitarle le ricerche alla Shakespeare and Company, leggendario punto di ritrovo per scrittori e poeti. A Coco Chanel tavoli e consolle per la sua maison di rue de Cambon. A Fernand Léger un carrello per le riprese del suo primo film cubista: Ballet mécanique. A Pablo Picasso un armadio per tutte le sue magliette a righe bianche e blu. A Erik Satie una cassettiera per conservare i suoi morceaux en forme de poire. Al versatile Jean Cocteau un grandissimo vaso che neanche i suoi Enfants Terribles riuscirebbero a distruggere. Ad Amedeo Modigliani un vaso su cui poggiarvi una delle sue teste di pietra. A Joan Mirò, il più surrealista di tutti, una cassettiera coloratissima. Al fotografo Man Ray un grande contenitore per conservare i provini del suo Violon d’Ingres, e alla sua modella preferita la cantante Kiki de Montparnasse una cassettiera in bianco e nero come le foto che la ritraggono. A Sanyu, il surrealista cinese, dei piatti girevoli per assaporare les omlettes di chez Polidor. A Salvador Dalì una sedia dove mettere in pratica il suo metodo paranoico-critico. Alla cantante e ballerina Joséphine Baker una lampada che illumini la sua mitica gonna di banane nel camerino del teatro Champs-Elysées. A Tamara de Lempicka dei bauli per i suoi vestiti da donna moderna. A Henri Matisse, una orchestra di grandi vasi colorati che faccia risuonare la sua Symphonie cromatique.
A Sonia Delaunay una poltroncina con motivi geometrici in onore dei suoi tessuti e abiti "simultaines". A Gertrude Stein & Alice Toklas una panca doppia per il loro salotto dove scrittori e pittori bevevano tè o liquori distillati dalle prugne rosse, gialle o dai lamponi.
Il mio viaggio e gli “omaggi d’alluminio” a Parigi e ai suoi splendidi fantasmi sono terminati. Grazie Ernest per avermi dato l’idea, grazie Valentina per avermi dato la possibilità di realizzarla.
A MOVEABLE FEAST - Paris in the Twenties
"If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast."

If I were asked: "Where would you like to live, and at what time?", I would answer, without hesitation: "In Paris, in the Twenties".
The collection of furniture and objects "Festa Mobile - Parigi anni venti" that I designed for Altreforme, is dedicated to my beloved Paris, a city where I led an intense life for four years, and where I discovered at the bouquinistes (used book stalls) along the Seine "Paris est une fete" by Ernest Hemingway, a testimony of the years the writer spent in Paris, but more than that, of a unique artistic, cultural life.
So, just as in the leading role of Woody Allen's movie "Midnight in Paris", I imagined being transported in the "City of Light" of the wild years, heart of the cultural experience and of the avant-garde of artists from all over the world.
I walked along the boulevards of St.Germain and Montparnasse; I sat in the cafe's, in the bistros, in the brasseries, and everywhere I left a trace: canisters and Pandora's boxes, left behind to find my way back. My Hansel's and Gretel's breadcrumbs I called: Le Dome, Ripp, La Rotonde, Les Deux Magots, La Closerie des Lilas, Harry's Bar, Cafe' de Flore, le Falstaff, Cafe' des Amateurs, Dingo Bar and Polidor.
Then I visited the workshops, I frequented theaters, book stores and Parisian exhibitions.
In my wanderings I imagined to meet and get to know some of the famous protagonists of that era, and to be able to spend some time with them, and to offer a gift to each of them .
To Ernest Hemingway I gave a liquor cabinet to make his solitary drinking more enjoyable.
To F. Scott Fitzgerald, a chair in which to rest after his wild nights, and to his wife, Zelda Sayre Fitzgerald, a little table looking for its balance.
To Sylvia Beach, a crossword puzzle book shelf to ease her research at the Shakespeare and Company bookstore, legendary meeting point for writers and poets. To Coco Chanel, tables and consoles for her maison of Rue de Cambon. To Fernand Leger, a trolley to shoot his first cubist movie "Ballet Mecanique". To Pablo Picasso, a closet for all his white and blue striped T-shirts. To Eric Satie, a chest of drawers for keeping his "Morceaux en forme de poire". To the versatile Jean Cocteau, a huge vase, that not even his Enfants Terribles could destroy. To Amedeo Modigliani. a stand for one of his stone heads. To Jean Miro', the most surrealist of all, a colorful chest of drawers. To the photographer Man Ray, a big container to keep the proofs of his Violon d'Ingres, and to his favorite model, Kiki de Montparnasse, a black and white chest of drawers, just like the photos that portray her.
To Sanyu, the Chinese surrealist, some lazy Susans to taste the omelettes from Chez Polidor. To Salvador Dali, a chair for practicing his paranoiac-critical method. To the singer and dancer Josephine Baker, a lamp for lighting her legendary banana skirt in the dressing room of the theatre Champs Elysees. To Tamara de Lempicka, some trunks for her clothes suitable for a modern woman. To Henri Matisse, an orchestra of big, colored vases, to let ring his Symphonie Cromatique. To Sonia Delauney, a little armchair with geometrical patterns in honor of her "simultaines" fabrics and dresses.
To Gertrude Stein and Alice Toklas, a love seat for their drawing room, where writers and painters drunk liqueurs distilled from red and yellow plums or from raspberries.
My journey with the aluminium homages to Paris and its splendid ghosts is now completed.
